International Architects Benoy Scoops Major Global Industry Awards

Amidst steep competition, Benoy’s iconic ION Orchard development in Singapore has been named ‘International Retail and Leisure Destination of the Year’ at the Global Retail and Leisure International (RLI) Awards 2010.
Benoy’s design for this major mixed-use scheme was conceived to dynamically re-imagine Orchard Road, Singapore’s premier shopping district. Since opening in October last year, ION Orchard has become a destination at the heart of Singapore.
Benoy-designed St David’s in Cardiff was named ‘International Shopping Centre of the Year’. Following five years of continual endeavour by a dedicated and talented team the landmark St David’s scheme represents £675 million of private investment in Cardiff city-centre and has, since its opening in October 2009, delivered social and economic opportunities for the city and the region. This Award was presented to the client, St David’s Partnership.
The culmination of the evening saw Benoy being named ‘Designer of the Year 2010’. The judges were looking for a designer that ‘consistently and accurately delivers the value of a brand and demonstrates its ability to add real commercial value’.

The prestigious Global RLI Awards 2010 recognises and celebrates the most innovative and imaginative retail and leisure concepts around the globe, rewarding success, creativity and achievement across the industry.
