GET INVESTMENT READY AHEAD OF 10TH CONNECT MIDLANDS INVESTMENT CONFERENCE

Posted on 30. Jul, 2010 by editor in Business News

High growth businesses in the Midlands seeking funding of around £500k to £5m have a great opportunity to learn how to make the perfect investment pitch ahead of the Connect Midlands Investment Conference (CMIC) in November.

Since 2001, Connect Midlands, a unique public-private partnership backed by East Midlands Development Agency, Advantage West Midlands via Business Link, ERDF, University of Warwick and 24 private sector sponsors, has helped over 250 companies go on to raise £200m worth of investment to exploit their innovations.  Its flagship event, CMIC, has been at the heart of that fund raising.

John Griffiths, director of Connect Midlands (pictured speaking at last year’s CMIC) explains;

“We are now actively looking for businesses to showcase at the event that are seeking to raise £500k to £5m of investment. With the event not taking place until November, this call may sound early but we want to give as many businesses as possible the time to make their case, significantly improve their chances and, crucially, to prepare that all important  pitch.

“To prepare and support businesses to raise funds at CMIC, we are offering a master-class programme that enhances their skills to formulate a more attractive business plan and to make a compelling pitch to investors.

“We are looking to identify top quality prospective companies over the summer. We will then run a workshop to review their strategic cases on 1st September, followed by assistance on their business plans with a workshop at the end of September, before the usual final assessment panels in October. If selected, companies will then have the opportunity to present to investors at CMIC, fully prepared.”

CMIC is part of Understanding Finance for Business, an investment readiness programme that forms part of the national portfolio of business support, Solutions for Business.
