MP becomes Keep Trade Local Ambassador

Andrew Bingham MP has today become an ambassador of the Federation of Small Businesses’ (FSB) Keep Trade Local campaign.
As ambassador of Keep Trade Local – a campaign that highlights the importance of small shops, post offices and pubs to the local community and seeks to save the high streets from the ‘identi-kit syndrome’. Andrew Bingham MP (pictured) has pledged to forever remember that small businesses are at the heart of communities, support small businesses in his constituency and bring the small business voice to Parliament
Karl Sirrell, FSB Regional Vice Chairman for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, said “Small businesses are vital to our economy and it is imperative we recognise their importance to our high streets and to pulling the UK into recovery. The Federation of Small Businesses’ Keep Trade Local campaign highlights the significance small firms have in the local community – they aren’t just part of the local community, but they are the local community.
“Small businesses are coming under a combination of pressures – not least because of these uncertain economic times. We could lose our traditional shops that serve our everyday needs. Our small shops offer a personal service because they have an understanding about the product they are selling that big chains just don’t. They help create the individuality and quirkiness that High Peak areas such as Buxton and Glossop are known for.
“The UK is driven by small firms that make up 99 per cent of all UK businesses – they are the engine growth for job creation. But our cities and towns are creating ‘Clone Town Britain’. We need to stand up as a united voice and as ambassador for this campaign, together we will tell the Government, to Keep Trade Local.”
