County Business Event Is Opportunity For Networking

Business people from all over the county will be celebrating Lincolnshire Day (1st October 2010) by meeting up at the second annual Lincolnshire Business Convention.

The new countywide networking event is to open to all business people in the county and will this year be held at RAF Cranwell near Sleaford.

The Lincolnshire Business Convention is being organised by a consortium of private and public sector partners and follows the first successful convention which took place last year at the EPIC Centre near Lincoln and attracted around 250 delegates.

The aim of the convention is to encourage better communication and co-operation between businesses across the county.

“Last year’s inaugural convention was a tremendous success and we’re looking forward to making this year’s even bigger and better,” said Shelagh Coates, Investment and Marketing Manager at Invest Lincolnshire.

“We want to encourage more dialogue and better interaction between businesses in Lincolnshire to improve the county’s economy.

“There are many business networking groups across Lincolnshire but so far nothing that brings the whole of Lincolnshire together, so we’re hoping to develop a countywide network.

“The Lincolnshire Business Convention is an opportunity to meet other business people from around the county and make useful connections. Why go outside the county for a supplier when you can use a company on your doorstep?”

The theme of this year’s convention will be the history and future of Lincolnshire’s aviation and engineering sector, which still plays an important part in the county’s economy.

Guest speakers will be world land speed record breaker Richard Noble, OBE, Ian Whittle -, son of Sir Frank Whittle who pioneered the jet engine at Cranwell – and Professor Paul Stewart, founding Head of the University of Lincoln’s new School of Engineering.

The half-day event, which begins at 11:45 on Friday 1st October 2010, will be held in the Daedalus Mess and includes a three-course Tastes of Lincolnshire lunch.

Delegates will be welcomed to the event by Group Captain Dave Waddington, Station Commander at RAF Cranwell.

Tickets cost £35 plus VAT and are available online at www.lincolnshirebusinessconvention.com.
