An industry leading IT solutions provider has chosen Nottingham as its first permanent office location in the UK.

Ikanos Consulting was set up by owner James Woodall four years ago. The company, which counts telecommunications giant Motorola amongst its clients, was previously run from James’ home and due to enormous growth over the last year, James has now chosen Nottingham as its headquarters and to support its continuing expansion.

James, who is 26, says: “I set the company up four years ago and never dreamt it would grow so quickly. Initially there was just myself, I then employed three other consultants. Since August last year, things have just exploded and there are now around 11 of us in total. I moved to Nottingham from Brighton last year, and have been living in West Bridgford ever since. I decided to look for an office because I felt we needed a permanent base.”

Currently, Ikanos only has one UK-based client, and James sees the move as an opportunity to work with some local companies too.

“We have clients across the globe, and I have spent the last four years moving around, building up our client base. Now we have taken on more  employees and we have established some huge clients, I felt we needed to put down roots. Nottingham is centrally based and is home to some huge companies, it seemed like the ideal choice.”

James, along with the team at Ikanos, develop software for a range of clients and have previously worked for huge names including Microsoft, Panasonic and Motorola Solutions. The team is currently developing the software for a product which will revolutionise the way companies work, not just in the UK but across the globe, and has already been snapped up by Motorola.

James says: “It may sound complicated for some, but we make devices work by creating the software. For example, when companies have approached Microsoft with projects in the past, they pointed them in our direction.
“Since we set up four years ago, things have gone from strength to strength and we are growing and gaining new clients everyday, we see Nottingham as the next phase of our growth.”
